Case Study 1: 460 foot gouge, Apasco, Estado de Mexico cement plant, Feb 6th 2001
The belt damage consisted of a deep gouge along the entire length of the 460 foot belt. It was 5.5 inches wide and varied in depth from 1/16th
to ¼ inches. The belt is made by Goodyear, 460 foot, 48 inch wide, fabric carcass with 4 plies. It has a 3/8th top and a 1/16th bottom. The damage went through the first two layers of fabric, and the third layer was exposed and deterioration rapidly. The belt cost over $20,000 and was only two days old when the damage occurred. Eli-Flex is the only repair product that can cost effectively repair this damage.

Longitudinal Structural Damage or Critical Junction Failure
The belt damage consisted of a deep gouge along a 7foot length of a 150foot belt. Material was falling through numerous holes that had resulted. The damage was caused by age and running material with
excessive weight over a belt with an idler configuration designed to handle a lighter load The belt was old but the screen was being decommissioned in 8 months time and the working life of the belt had to be
extended or a new belt would have to be purchased for only 8 months. A new belt would cost approximately $3000 including installation.
